What's It Like Being A Parent Right Now?

What's it like being a parent right now? It’s harder than ever.

But don’t forget about grace, mama. Grace is extravagant favour we're given though we did nothing to deserve it.

And this extravagant grace has such a way of holding us close. Grabbing us from the crazy of the day and holding us still.

These days we're sitting at home, unable to travel or visit friends. There is so much difficulty, uncertainty and fear.

It's incredibly hard to parent and balance work, whether from home or away. Explaining what's happening in the world to our kids is a tough balance of honesty and trying not to scare them. And if you're a new mama, you're unable to place your child in the arms of your extended family and friends.

But I want you to know that I am smothering you with so much grace.

No one's coming over, so you can just leave those dishes in the sink. Our sense of community is coming back fiercely. People are dropping presents off on your porch. And they aren't expecting anything in return.

Gifts of grace scatter themselves through our days among the many hours and minutes. And if we see them, if we point them out, they cannot help but multiply.

And there's grace for whatever you're feeling right now. The next time you look in the mirror, I want you to tell yourself that you're going to be just fine, mama. Because there's extravagant grace for you.

About This Sweet Family

This is Jennifer, Matthew and their new little bundle Owen James.

They are such loving, gentle parents. They are showing their love every day by giving grace to each other. They share responsibilities and don’t keep score of who changed the last diaper. They just do what needs to be done when needed. And that’s just one thing that makes them such great parents.

Hi there, I'm Karen! I am obsessed with newborn baby yawns, giggling kids, and fancy flavoured tea. I'm a mama of four who understands the busyness of everyday life and I've learned how to embrace and enjoy the beauty of it through lifestyle photography. I know what it’s like to look back on my children’s first years and feel like they flew by so quickly. I don’t want any other mamas to forget what their baby’s little fingers and toes looked like all curled up. My hope is that I can help you create albums and prints to serve as physical reminders of these sweet times throughout your baby’s early years. Contact me for info.
