I Will Always Be The One To Listen, I Promise
If you're telling me about your day at school, I will listen. I promise. If you're venting because you aren't getting along with your friend, I will listen. I promise. If you're bouncing ideas off of me for what to get Dad for a birthday present, I will listen. I promise. If you're saying why you're afraid of something, I will listen. I promise. If you're talking to your siblings, I will listen. I promise. If you're saying a bunch of gibberish, I will listen. I promise.
I will always be the one to listen, I promise.
It is so important to listen to children. How else will they ever express themselves if you can't be the one to listen to them? Listen and listen intently. Listen if they're being serious. Listen if they're being silly. We were given two ears for a reason. Use them wisely.
All children ever want is to be heard. Let them know you are there to take on that task.
What would the world look like without any listening or communicating? Nothing would be done. Nothing would be understood. Nothing would be misunderstood.
Listen because you want to listen, not just because you want to reply. Listening takes patience and composure, but listening is so important and necessary.
About This Family Session
This is Stephanie, Eric, Declan and Holden. If you’re a frequent blog reader, you’ll recognize them from previous posts from their motherhood, newborn and family sessions.
During our sessions together it’s obvious how well they all listen to and respect each other, so I though talking about that today would be just perfect.
Feeling like their little family is complete, they wanted to capture their feelings of love and joy at this beautiful time in their lives.
They loved their photos so much, and decided on a three portrait display for above their bed in the master bedroom. Oh, and you’ll find their album design featured at the bottom of this blog post.
