Cultivate Gratitude Every Day With Family Photography
What Makes You Overflow with Gratitude?
Find it, and focus on it.
Starting a gratitude practice can be one of the most powerful ways of thriving during motherhood. Why? Because gratitude can improve our overall sense of well-being and help us savour the beauty of life in each moment.
But it can be all too easy to forget about gratitude when we’re in the thick of motherhood. It can be hard to see our own abundance on the tough days, but there is a way to protect yourself from the self-critical, comparison–mindset that makes us feel defeated and steals our joy.
Photos that Help You Fall in Love With Your Life Every Day:
When you decorate your home with photos and tell your family story in photo albums, these memories can be the most powerful prompts for living in an attitude of gratitude every day of your life. Photos are visible, tangible reminders that remind you of how much goodness your family shares in your life together: your happiness, health, your growth and love. Beautiful family photos help you fall in love with your life again every time you look at them.
And let me tell you, this sweet family is madly in love with each other.
Read on to see how they’re celebrating all the abundance in their life with their daughter on her 7-month milestone.
FAMILY SPOTLIGHT:
Mom Shika and Dad Surha are new clients of mine, and I was so excited to meet their sweet little girl Kaira who is 7-months old. Kaira arrived at the studio with her parents bright-eyed and so excited to explore a new space (I’ve designed my natural light studio in Grimsby to be baby-safe and kid-friendly so your kids can feel comfortable just having fun while I take their photos!)
Oh, the unspeakable joy of watching parents look at their baby.
What They Wore:
I want you to experience abundance at Reflections. This is why I’ve turned your photo sessions into a luxurious time where you feel seen, cared for and treasured. I love dressing mothers up with their families for beautiful photos from my studio wardrobe.
While we style with a neutral colour palette so we don’t distract from your natural beauty, this doesn’t have to mean you’re limited to white, grey and beige. If you’re looking to add a little warmth to your photos, we can bring in some colour with soft pinks, blues, greens or browns.
For this session, we styled Shika in a stunning off-the-shoulder rose-coloured dress. Little Kaira had three outfit changes – a soft pink romper, a white baby-doll onesie and a lovely sage green dress. Dad wore his own pair of beige pants, and we gave him a really handsome sage green polo.
The Moments We Captured:
When you book a milestone photo session around the 6-month mark, it means we can start to capture some more movement-oriented shots with your baby. At 7-months, Kaira is now able to sit up on her own, grab toys and reach her arms out to everyone! And of course, we captured some sweet moments with her parents as well.
How They Preserved Their Memories:
When we met for an Image Reveal after their session, Shikha and Surha ordered a grid gallery which I am scheduled to install for them in their home (I include this service in all your gallery wall orders). We’re planning to continue creating their library of memories in December at Kaira’s one-year milestone session at the Reflections studio. I can’t wait!
How to Practice Gratitude Every Day:
As a mother of four, I know that gratitude can feel especially hard some days. There are literally periods of my life I don’t remember because I was so caught up in the day-to-day blur of diaper-changing, lunch-packing, chauffeuring, and just trying to do it all … and do it all right.
Three Ways to Integrate Gratitude into Your Life:
But that is why I began intentionally practicing gratitude, on a regular basis. Science says that there is a strong connection between gratitude and increased happiness. So I’d like to leave you with three ways you can make gratitude a regular part of your life.
Install a Gallery Wall:
I also like to call it a story wall because we can select the photos that capture the feelings you want to focus on in this season of your life. Whether it’s enjoying the tiny-ness of your baby’s toes or living into the energy of your pre-teens, a gallery wall featured in your home will be a constant visual reminder of the story you want to create right here, right now – and to be grateful for it always.
Relive Happy Moments in Heirloom Albums:
Having photo albums on your coffee tables or bookshelves create easy access to gratitude. When you look back at beautiful photos of your precious memories, you’ll be overwhelmed by feelings of gratitude – that you got to be there in that moment, with those people.
Speak Gratitude Out Loud:
As you provide these gratitude experiences for yourself through photos, why not turn your thoughts into words? Write them down and leave notes around the house of things you’re grateful for. Tell your kids how grateful you are to have had that particular photo moment with them. Ask them what they are grateful for! Being intentional about gratitude will quickly become as natural as brushing your teeth or praying before a meal.
Implementing one or all of these tips will help you and your family stay focused on the goodness you do have, and enjoy it to its fullest.
Conclusion:
Having up to date family photography around your home will help you remember the beauty and abundance that is available in each new season of your motherhood journey. Because you are worthy of the joy that comes along with living in gratitude.
About This Beautiful Family
Little Kaira and her parents Sikha and Surha were new to the Reflections studio when they arrived for their 7-month baby photography session. But we all quickly became good friends as we delighted over Kaira, celebrated the beauty of their family, and preserved memories that will last a lifetime.
