Why You Don’t Have to Feel Guilty Documenting Your Second Child

Mama, are you dreaming of a portrait session for your second child but feel guilty about not doing the same with your first? This post is for you.

You don’t have to feel guilty. At all.

And I want you to know that I think you’re an amazing mom. The fact that you’re worried about this means you care deeply about your children and want the best for all of them.

I’m here to assure you that your feelings are valid but that it’s really okay to have a portrait session with your second child.

Here, our portrait sessions are about telling your family’s story. Let’s tell yours.

Plus, first-year portrait sessions aren’t just for celebrating your baby’s 1st birthday but a celebration for your entire family. Let me share why you don’t have to feel guilty having a portrait session with your second child.

You’ll Never Regret These Portraits

As a mom of four, I know the feeling of guilt over doing something for one child over the other. It’s hard! What I can tell you is that you will not regret taking these photos with your family. If you’re feeling guilty, imagine talking about this with your older child years from now. What if you told your older child that you didn’t have a portrait session with their younger sibling because you were feeling guilty? I would guess your older child would assure you that it’s okay. They will just love the portraits of your family.

Let’s Focus On Your Family

While the focus of the session is on your second child, it’s really part of your family’s story. Our family-focused portrait photography captures your family’s connection and love for each other with timeless images. So yes, we’re here because of your child’s first birthday, but we’ll celebrate all of the magical moments in the studio.

Document Your Children’s Relationship

This is an opportunity to document the start of your children’s beautiful relationship. They likely won’t remember this special time, but these images will tell them the story. Your children will love looking back on these images from their early childhood years and looking at how their bond grew over time.

We’ll Capture Your First Child

My sessions are family-focused, so even though this first-year portrait session is for this family’s second child, we still took portraits with every family member.

During every session, we capture portraits of each of child solo, interacting with each other, and family images. Both your children will love seeing these photos of themselves with their family and cherish the artwork that we create.

Dream Worthy Portrait Artwork

While these images are from your child’s first year portrait session, they’re really part of telling the bigger story about your family. After the session, you’ll return to the studio for your image reveal and ordering appointment. Together, we’ll create your family story wall or album from the session. Both of your children will grow up looking at these portraits on the wall and know how much you loved them.
