Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What should we wear to our photo session?
I’d love to take care of this for you! I have a full studio wardrobe of light-medium neutral tones in a variety of textures. It clothes families with children up to size 10. The only things you’ll need are nude coloured undergarments for yourself and a pair of gray, beige, brown or tan pants for dad. If you prefer to wear your own clothing, here’s my what-to-wear guide to help you find the best pieces.

  2. Will my baby be posed safely?
Absolutely. I’ve completed many newborn workshops on safe baby posing, but you should also know that I follow a baby-led posing structure. This means that I let your baby run the show, in positions they’re comfortable in. The result is images that show their personalities, and a safe newborn session.

  3. How long will it be before I see my pictures?
We’ll meet back in the studio just one week after your portraits are taken to reveal your gallery of images on the big projection screen.

  4. What should I do with my images after?
Custom framed wall art, heirloom albums, keepsake folios and digital image files on USB. I love to take care of my clients by creating sample designs for you, so look forward to that! :)

  5. What if my children don’t cooperate?
Kids often need time to warm up to new environments and people, so that's what we'll do. I have so many fun things planned to make this experience a good one. I'll get to know them a little bit, and we won't rush through it. I also have a “kids corner” with toys and books that look great in photographs. Soon they'll be joking around, giggling, laughing and playing. It's very rare that I have to reschedule a photo session due to a child's behaviour, but if we need to, that's ok.

  6. My husband doesn't like having family photos done. Do you have any suggestions?
Yes, give him a hug and tell him that I'm not a sit still and smile photographer. We'll be playing games and chatting, so he won't feel awkward in front of the camera. Remind him that these images we're creating are a gift to your family. Just get him to the session and I'll take it from there. Your family is going to love it, and you'll be the hero that decided to do this in the first place. :)

  7. How long does a portrait session take?
A family session typically lasts one hour, and a newborn session doesn't go over two.

  8. Where will the session take place?
The studio and our beach/park locations are both in Grimsby, Ontario. I photograph exclusively at these two locations.

  9. I don't feel beautiful at this time in my life. Should I still come in for a photo session?
Absolutely. I will photograph you from the most pleasing angles so you'll look fabulous in your images. This is also an opportunity to pamper yourself a little, and I can arrange a professional hair & make up artist if you'd like. Moms are so rarely in front of the camera, so please take every opportunity you have to exist in photos for your kids. You'll be so glad you participated, trust me.

  10. Do you use props?
I feel it's important to see family connection in my images rather than objects you're wearing or holding, so I rarely use props. If you bring something of sentimental value, I will absolutely use it. If it's important to you, it's important to me.

  11. Will the images be posted online?
Most of my client sessions are posted online, but if you would rather keep your session private, that's completely ok.

  12. How far in advance are you booking portrait sessions?
I have sessions booked up to a year out. Please feel free to reach out at any time, but to ensure there is room in my schedule, it’s wise to reserve your preferred date as far in advance as possible.
