Try These Simple Dates For Worn Out Parents
Are you finding now, that as a parent, date nights are these elusive things that you never have time for? Now that you have your wonderful children, all your time and energy goes into them. And at the end of the day, you and your spouse are exhausted and end up going to bed at the same time as your kids. Or if you do end up hiring a babysitter and going out, you are talking or thinking about your kids the entire night.
I completely understand the struggle. That's why my husband and I do simple dates. They are perfect for having time to ourselves and are still romantic. So, to get you and your significant other back to having alone time, I’ve written down some of my favourite date ideas that I think are perfect for any parent.
Stay Home and Watch Movies. I find the best thing to do when you and your spouse have had a really long day, is to watch a movie or catch up on your TV shows after the kids have been put to bed. This allows you to stay in your comfy PJs and spend time together while being snuggled up on the couch with some popcorn.
Have a Dinner Date at Home. Try waiting for your kids to go to bed and then having your own personal dinner. The wait may be tough, but this lets you enjoy something you wouldn’t usually eat with your kids. Plus, you’ll get to have an uninterrupted conversation with each other or have some precious silence.
Grab Some Coffee. Going to a coffee place with a nice ambiance and enjoying a warm drink is a great date. Especially since there are little to no interruptions. So, go, grab a drink and start catching up with your spouse.
Plan Morning Dates. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. So why not go and grab some with your spouse while the kids are at a playdate or at your parents? Morning dates are perfect for anyone who is exhausted by dinner. Plus, after you’re done, you still have the rest of the day to other stuff.
Recreate Your First Date. Going back to where it all started can be a great date to remember how your relationship first was. Even if you can’t go to that same first date spot, you can still eat the same meal or do the same things. Not only is it romantic, but it’s also fun to see what each of you remember about the date!
Doing a Romantic Photo Shoot. Going and getting photos taken of you and your family, where the focus is on you and your spouse, is a perfect date. It will capture how beautiful your relationship is. Then, when you look back at your photos later on in life, you can reminisce on those exact moments and think how far your relationship has come since then. So get to booking a session with a local photographer. And not to sway your decision or anything, but I'd love to capture your love here in my studio!

Hi there, I'm Karen Byker from Grimsby, Ontario, Canada. I'm obsessed with newborn baby smiles, giggling kids and fancy flavoured tea.
I'm a mother of four that understands the overwhelm of the every day, but I've learned how to embrace and enjoy the beauty of it. I have always believed we should be able to enjoy this life we chose.
I've been a professional photographer since 2005. I've helped hundreds of mamas to slow down, pause and use photography as a reminder to take a breath.
I would just love to talk with you about documenting the beauty through your chaos. Let's chat!
