There Is Something Special About Your Dad
Wow, Dads are awesome.
There is something special about the embrace of Dad that makes us feel safe and secure.
There is something special about the way that he looks at his kids that lets them know they're going to be okay.
There is something special about his voice that reminds us of home.
There is something special about his laughter and the way that he plays that shows us the adventure of life.
There is something special about how he tells a story that makes you want to be a part of his next one.
There is something special about his strength that makes you want to crawl up into his heart and stay there.
There is something special about a Dad.
Have you ever watched a Dad play with his kids? What about the way that he tells them a story? Or how he seems to hold them like he isn’t letting go? Have you ever watched a daughter look at her dad as if he holds all the answers to life on the inside of his chest?
There is something about the presence of a Dad that makes his kids feel safe, at ease, and okay. He is like the pillar and the canopy in which so many find their home. They are looking for the validation that they are loved and treasured.
They are looking for their Dad to see potential inside of them and to tell them it is amazing.
Their greatness is amazing.
About These Family Sessions
To honour the amazing men in our lives, we celebrated International Men's Day last month. I took a few hours out of my Saturday to welcome dads, grandfathers, sons, and grandsons into my studio. We celebrated their relationships, had fun, and gave mama a break at home. Here are a handful of the images we created.
Hi there, I'm Karen Byker from Grimsby, Ontario, Canada. I'm obsessed with newborn baby yawns, giggling kids and fancy flavoured tea.
I'm a mother of four that understands the overwhelm of the every day, but I've learned how to embrace and enjoy the beauty of it. I believe we should be able to enjoy this life we chose.
I've been a professional photographer since 2005. I've helped hundreds of mamas to slow down, pause and use photography as a reminder to take a breath.
I'd love to talk with you about documenting the beauty through your chaos. Let's chat!
